It's happening! You have found the right board-certified plastic surgeon and are ready. You’ve scheduled a Breast Augmentation! We are ELATED for you!

I’m sure you have a lot of questions and we are here to answer them. After your consultation for your breast augmentation surgery, we schedule not only your surgery, but also a visit before called a pre-operative or pre-op and a post-operative or post-op visit. Your pre-op visit is scheduled typically a week or two before your actual surgery. In preparation for this appointment, we will advise you to gather some “wish pics” to show me (Dr. Derrick).. These pictures can be found on my instagram, website or via google search. Yes, celebrities are totally fine, and honestly often the inspiration for patients. Now just as a WARNING–be careful what you type in when undergoing your search. We have had patients come in telling us stories of what they have found during the search for the perfect breasts. I think we all know where that could lead. Once again just a warning!

Why do I ask for inspiration photos? This comes in handy when choosing your desired implant size. Implant sizing varies from patient to patient as everyone's measurements are different. What looks great and proportional on one patient does not necessarily translate to the same in another patient. It really comes down to your physique. I take extensive measurements of your chest, nipple to fold distance, and more to choose the right implant size for you. In the operating room, I order the size I think we need as well as at least one above and below so I have options in the or. It is important to note that I am helping you achieve the look YOU want, not the look I think you need. We decide on the size together before the implants are ever ordered.

During the pre-operative or pre-op visit we will also go over everything that you will need to know for pre-op and post-op care so any questions that you may have, write them down before this appointment. But don’t worry, you can also always call and ask me or the team as well at any time before or after surgery. One thing I like to advise my patients is not to drink alcohol the night before surgery. It impairs healing and can lead to more bruising. If possible, I prefer my patients not to drink the day prior to surgery. One of my preferences.

Medications are called in during the pre-op appointment for after your surgery giving you plenty of time to pick them up and have them ready to go before your surgery date. And please pick those medications up so they are at your house and ready for you. Now stay tuned for surgery day and your post-op visit.
