"Loved, loved, loved my experience with Dr. Derrick!" -Breast Augmentation Patient

Breast implants, boob job, or a breast augmentation, as it is medically called is a procedure where a woman can choose to increase her breast size. This can be done through three different methods: either adding silicone or saline implants or using fat harvested from another location on the body and adding it to the breast. And just because we are in Dallas, Texas that doesn't mean that bigger is better. I aim for beautiful results through breast augmentation that compliment your physique.

With breast augmentations being one of my most requested surgeries, I think it may be helpful to discuss the different types of breast augmentation and how to determine which size implant you want.

This is where having an expert comes in. The size of your implant can vary dramatically based off your personal measurements and desired outcome. Bringing in photos of what you would like to look like is very helpful in addition to discussing what cup size you are trying to achieve. When you come in for your breast augmentation consultation I will take note of your measurements, gain insight into your goals and come up with a few options. I always take three sizes into the operating room so I can see the on table results an adjust as needed.

At the office, we also have imaging that can be done in the office to give you a visual representation of what your personal surgery results will look like after with different sizes. I have found this to be very helpful for patients who aren't sure what the different cc's in implants amount to. The imaging also helps align our goals for your breast surgery.

If you choose to add volume to your chest through fat grafting, the difference will not be as large as with an implant. Depending on your body chemistry, we can add up to one cup size through transfer. But once again, this depends on your goals and your consultation to see if you are a good candidate. Recovery is longer when using fat grafting due to the liposuction, which is important to note.
